I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hills with my family recently. The location of the hotel is amazing and the views are incredible (particularly the sunset). The hotel is around 20 mins drive from the city centre, where we travelled to each day to see sights and have dinner. It's a great place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle of the city centre. The hotel offers transport but we found that arranging travel from town (tuktuk drivers offer you their numbers, often have their own cars and charge half the price). The rooms were clean and the view from the room was equally as spectacular. There were no mosquitoes which was surprising given we were in the jungle. There was however a cockroach that appeared in the bathroom on two occasions - the staff were on hand and helpful in dealing with this. We didn't have any dinner or other food here, only the breakfast - the breakfast was relatively standard; egg, toast, jam, butter, fruit and juice. This was sufficient for what we needed. The check-in process was smooth and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to Chaminda and team for their hospitality and making our stay a great one. Would recommend staying here!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka and it was the perfect end to the holiday. The hotel itself is a 10 minute drive out of Kandy (very cheap and easy by tuk tuk) and I would say this is the best part, as you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Kandy, without staying in the hustle of the centre (it’s loud and busy). The views are beautiful, and it’s the most amazing spot to catch the sunset. The pool is also a total treat. You are surrounded by nature, so you can watch the eagles whilst you swim. We loved our room it was clean, the bed was huge and very soft and we had a great view from our balcony. The breakfast was lovely and we loved the presentation of the fresh fruit everyday! Our highlight of this hotel was the lovely staff. Particularly Chaminda the manager. On our last day he offered to walk us to the nearby forest Monestary, and we also stopped in to look around the Mountbatten bungalow on our way back. It was lovely to speak to him about his life in Sri Lanka, and we learnt a lot from him about this beautiful country! It’s a shame to see negative comments on here about this hotel, as that was not the experience we had. If you are looking for somewhere peaceful, clean and friendly, I would highly recommend this for your stay in Kandy!

The worst experience in our 3weeks tour. They didn't want to check in us because they are full, but we had reservation. After a long discuss we got a room which is not clean and there were insects, geccos and cockroaches. They asked prepayment so we didn't received the amount when we checked out earlier when we planned. There weren't hospitality there wasn't clean, it is humiliaton of sri lanka and its hospitality.

The hotel is situated up the mountains and our room has a balcony overlooking the beautiful mountain scenery of Kandy. It's only 20 minutes away from the town proper and is a perfect getaway from a buzzing city. No mosquitoes at all in the room which is a plus 🌟 James is a star hotel manager! Cons: The mattress was not the best and we had thin covers to use for the night. The cold didn't bother us but I would recommend asking for another cover if you are easily cold. Bring your own face towels and toothbrush/ toothpaste - we bought ours from the city. Unsure if the hotel will provide this if asked. The sign going to the hotel is a bit high-up for drivers to see. Menu prices are in dollars for easy reference. The spa is not in the hotel and they can arrange this for you. I would recommend installing PickMe app to book tuktuks and taxis instead of asking the hotel for arrangements. It is a steep road to the hotel so we always booked taxis going back to the hotel. Overall recommended if you would not or rather not go to the city during your stay in Kandy 🌟
